The BTR is a Russian armoured personnel carrier. BTR stands for BTR (БТР), from Bronetransportyor / Bronetransporter (Russian: бронетранспортё literally “armoured transporter“), is any of a series of Soviet or post-Soviet military armoured personnel carriers (APCs). BTR-80 APC

The fully amphibious BTR-80 is powered by a 7403 four-stroke, eight cylinder liquid cooled diesel engine, which provides 260 hp. It is capable of a maximum speed of 80 km/hour on paved road and 9 km/hour when afloat. Fuel endurance range is 600 km on roads.

BTR-70 APC

The BTR-70 is powered by two petrol engines. Early production vehicles used 115 hp GAZ-69B 6-cylinder engines, but most vehicles have now been retrofitted with the more powerful ZMZ-49-05 V-8 engines.

BTR-60 APC

The BTR-60 is equipped with two GAZ-40P gasoline engines, each having an output of only 90 hp. For comparison, most Ukrainian Soviet-type APCs have engines of 240-260 hp.
