Automated Systems for Inner Diameter Control 80 mm to 175 mm

This device is used for contactless scanning and geometrical parameter measurement of the inner diameter of pipes, bushes, holes and tubes among others.  Contactless measurement of objects with two through-holes of different diameter, and accuracy up to ±0,005 um.

The BCS Automated Inner Diameter Measurement System (CIMS), suitable for all howitzer smooth bore’s and artillery tube’s. Inspect & measure all calibers 80 mm to 175 mm. This is the system with the most precise sensors available.

Fully Automatic, once the probe is inserted into the Smooth Bore. All the other processes are handled automatically after pushing “Start Button”. Status of measurement is displayed on the laptop screen. The final report can be printed or stored in a database or on a memory card.

The 360° degree laser scanner moves along the bore automatically. The motion control and data transactions are wireless solution provides both an overview and detailed view of the condition of the inside of all military smooth bore tubes.

How It Measures & Inspects

The (CIMS) is the unit with the most precise sensors available.

It measures a few different parameters (inner diameter, ovality, out-of-roundness, non-straightness) using three different measurement channels (high precision laser array 2D scanner, rangefinder and PSD sensor) and combines this data to calculate the full 360 ̊ cross-sectional profile of the pipe. Based on the exceptional number of precisely measured points and diameters (width, height, irregularity) are calculated. Cross-section measurement results are then supplemented by probe positions from the distance rangefinder and inclinometer data.

Specifications Contactless Inner Diameter Measurement System (CIMS)

Measurement principle – an array of triangulation sensors – usually six sensors arranged in a circle every 60 degrees. The system approximates the cross-section of the pipe by the six points, which makes it possible to calculate the diameter and ovality. Not suitable for profile analysis.
