Symptoms of Mold Infection or Exposure

There are several common symptoms of mold infection in humans. These include:

  • Fever
  • Rashes
  • Sneezing
  • Headaches
  • Eye irritation
  • Sinus irritation
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Chronic coughing
  • Shortness of breath
  • Irritation to the mucous membranes of the mouth, nose and throat.

Black Mould Symptoms

Are even worse if the black mold exposure is severe, has lasted for a long time or if the individual has a mold allergy. Symptoms could include nausea, vomiting, cognitive dysfunction (memory loss), immune system dysfunction, as well as bleeding in the nose and lungs. Studies have also linked household mold exposure to depression.”

Other experts have linked mold infections to increased incidences of asthma and other serious lung and breathing conditions.

And, of course, systemic mold infections are common in people with impaired immune systems, such as those who have HIV/AIDS, or who are taking immunosuppressant medication

How To Test For Mould ?

The BCS Nano Dip slides are an easy indicator of the presence of bacteria, yeast, and moulds, in liquids or on surfaces. Used to monitor microbial contamination, the dip/contact slide is simple to use, and only minimal training is required.

The BCS Nano Dip slides are designed to be used on-site where sampling only takes a few seconds. For liquid testing, immerse the Dip slide in fluid for 10 seconds, remove and allow excess liquid to drain before replacing the slide in the tube. For surface testing, press the slide against the surface to be tested, repeat the procedure on the other side of the slide and replace in the tube.

After incubating the slides for 24-48 hours the resulting growth patterns are compared to a chart and the level of microbial contamination can be ascertained. The appropriate remedial action can then be taken.
