The V-55 battle tank engine – is one of the naturally aspirated engines with retracted units. Installed on the T-55 tank, armored tractor BTS-4 and BTS-2.

The T-55 was fitted with the new V-55 12-cylinder 4-stroke one-chamber 38.88 liter water-cooled diesel engine (581 bhp) to cope with the additional weight. Fuel pressure was augmented. The pneumatic starter with AK-150S charger was new. A new heating system for the engine compartment was introduced, as well as an MC-1 diesel fuel filter.
