Cleaning Systems Approved By US Army
These types of bore cleaning systems have been tested and approved for use in the Abrams M256 Smooth Bore.
Electrically Powered Bore Cleaning Systems, utilizing silicon carbide brushes 120 Grit or 180 Grit. Driven by a flexible shaft using No Liquids or Chemical Solvents, and in conjunction with a bore vacuuming attachment. Have been tested and passed for use in the following situations:- Recommended Approval for use at Depots, Proving Grounds, Direct Support, Field Use, M256 Smooth Bore Cannons and in association with the M256 Profile verification program.
Cleaning Depleted Uranium (DU) Bores?
BCS Can provide a bore vacuuming attachment to protects the operator from contaminated particles that can damage the lungs and kidneys and can cause respiratory illness. (Tested and Approved by the Army Research Lab, Aberdeen Proving Ground).
DU used in US munitions has 60% of the radioactivity of natural uranium. The BCS Main Battle System, has an option to be fitted with the BCS bore vacuuming dust removal system and is ideally suited for any barrels that contain contaminated DU waste particles. Be Safe, Do Not Risk Illness.

Cleaning Smooth Bores!
Bore Cleaning Systems offer a wide range of brushes for small arms cleaning, including silicon carbide and mop brushes.
Using a BCS military brush, the treated surface will result in a smoother, cleaner surface that is free from machining imperfections and less prone to fouling and corrosion.
The surface will be more regular, hold oil and lubricants better and have a beautiful polished finish.
Clean a Troop of Tanks within 15- 20 minutes. (3 Tanks).
Clean a Squadron of Tanks within 60 – 75 minutes. (12 Tanks).
Clean a Regiment of Tanks within 4 – 5 hours. (45 Tanks).
Ideally suited to removing heavy deposit from smooth tank bores and artillery bores.
Within a few minutes the bore or tube will be copper free and spotless.
We use a 120 Grit Brush; this removes all propellant & firing residues.
Ideal for removing heavy deposit from tank barrels and artillery bores.
Also suitable for mortar tubes 60 mm to 120 mm.
Helps to prevent barrel pitting.
Will polish your barrel like new.
Restores barrel or bore to white glove inspection level.
We use a 180 Grit Brush; this helps smooth out all the imperfections.
Using a BCS 180 Grit Polishing Brush, will help to remove all your barrel imperfections, Within Reason.
For Cleaning All Smooth Bores and Tubes
Smooth Bores: 40 mm / 105 mm / 115 mm / 120 mm / 125 / 130 mm / 140 mm.
Mortar Tubes: 60 mm / 81 mm / 120 mm.
On average each CSB brush will clean 25 smooth bores, depending on the condition of the bore.

DU Bore Cleaning
Depleted Uranium Thousands Of Us Troops Evacuated From Iraq For Unexplained Medical Reasons, Known Illnesses Inflicted By Internalisation Of Depleted Uranium Particles
On July 31, the Army Surgeon General announced an investigation into the deaths of two soldiers, Michael Tosta and Josh Neusche, and the hospitalisation of another 100, diagnosed with severe pneumonia. It has been established that inhaling large concentrations of DU-contaminated particles damages the lungs and kidneys and can cause respiratory illness.
